How do we get wireless internet for a PC and a Mac to share at the same time?
Posted on Jun 28, 2009 under Time Share | 6 CommentsWe have BT Broadband with wires and a modem box. Our PC is old and slow and probably not wireless enabled. My G4 laptop is wireless enabled. What do we need to buy and do to make it all lovely and wireless so we can share the internet connection at the same time? Will I need to find IP addresses and passwords to get it to work on the Mac?
Thanks for your help!
Vicki
You already have a modem, buy a router – links, D-link, 2wire or any other router in the market, there is no need to upgrade your account or service with BT you only need a router, to configure it its simple if you dont have STATIC IP addresses configure your router using PPP configuration it only requires you to type in your email address and password to authenticate to BT's servers. then your good. As for Configuration you need not worry its plug and play if its not going to work you can call router's support number for free within 1 year. As for the PC you can make use of the erthenet port of the router but if you wana go wireless for PC that is also possible purchase a wireless adapter, for Apple there should be no problem with that piece of hardware.
